Petit Caro
Petit Caro
Elegant like its big brother, Petit CARO is also a blend of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 12 months in barrels. The grapes come from selected plots of old vines in the historic region of Luján de Cuyo and from new high-altitude terroirs in the Uco valley, about 100 km south of Mendoza.
Winemaker notes
2019: Deep red color with intense ruby hues. Very fruity on the nose, with blackcurrant, strawberry, floral and minty notes coming through, followed by aromas of cassis, graphite and coffee bean. On the palate, the wine is balanced and pleasant, with texture, and refined tannins. A fruity middle palate leads to an elegant and long aftertaste.
2019
Decanter 95: Unfolds with captivating notes of red fruits, forest berry preserves, incense, graphite and spices. On the palate, it reveals tension, silky tannins and a lingering finish, leaving a delightful fruity and savoury impression. Made with grapes from Luján de Cuyo and Paraje Altamira (Uco Valley), the 2019 Petit Caro – a blend of 64% Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon – stands as essential value for money amid Argentina's most refined wines.
2021
Decanter 94: In the tradition of Bordeaux's grand cru classés, Bodegas Caro produces a second wine that mirrors the house’s core style. A bright ruby-red in hue, the wine offers red and black fruit, blackcurrant, hints of violets, old spice, flowers, and graphite. On the palate, it’s indulgent with a velvety texture and substantial body. The firm tannins promise excellent ageing potential, kept in harmony by the accomplished acidity. Petit Caro 2021 is a blend of 69% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% Ancellotta from Luján de Cuyo and Paraje Altamira in the Uco Valley.
