Morlet Force Tranquille Cabernet Franc
Morlet Force Tranquille Cabernet Franc
‘Force Tranquille’ is “a stunning, more elegantly styled expression of Cabernet Franc.” -Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, August 2022
“Hats off to Luc Morlet who unquestionably has a magic touch with both Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.” -Jeb Dunnuck, June 2019
The To Kalon Creek flows under the historic bridge on the property, which is located in the world-renowned Oakville appellation. The combination of gravelly and clay-loamy Bale soil and silt-loamy Cole soil reveals the complexity and subtility of the Cabernet Franc. This graceful wine pays homage to Luc’s mother, Marie-Thérèse Morlet, who has always displayed amazing courage and a spirit of humility. Her work ethic remains one of the forces behind our family’s passion for crafting the best wines possible. It is ‘Quiet Strength’ or ‘Force Tranquille.’
Winemaker notes
Deep garnet-purple in color, ‘Force Tranquille’ is comprised of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, all from the ‘Cœur de Vallée’ Vineyard’s Cole Soil series. The wine displays a bouquet of black cherries, red roses, redcurrant preserves, blackberry, black olive, mocha and wild sage. The full-bodied palate boasts intense red and black fruit layers, supported by fine-grained tannins. This beautiful wine offers tremendous complexity with a long and perfumed finish and will continue to evolve for over two decades.
2019
Wine Advocate 93: An 85-15 blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2019 Cabernet Franc Force Tranquille is the first vintage for this wine, drawn exclusively from the family's Oakville estate vineyard. It marries slightly herbal and red capsicum nuances with ripe black cherries on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is silky and fine, and the wine adds cola notes on the long, elegant finish.
Vinous 98: A new wine in this range, the 2019 Force Tranquille is a Cabernet Franc-based blend that incorporates a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, both from Cœur de Vallée. It's a stunning debut. Dark shades of fruit intermingled with spice, dried herbs, leather and coffee lend soaring complexity. Franc can be magical in Oakville, as it is here. Superb.
