Winemaker notes

Always the most racy cuvée! The delicate nose intensifies after some opening time and reveals lemon aroma, zest and vebena. Its mouth, both tense and dense, is very tasty.

2020

Burghound 93♥: Here too the wood treatment is more prominent on the ripe aromas of dried apricot, poached pear and anise. There is impressive size, weight and power to the bigger and equally generously proportioned flavors that brim with both dry extract and minerality before culminating in an elegant but powerful and chalky finish. Patience advised here too as this excellent effort brims with upside development potential.

Wine Advocate 92+: Exhibiting aromas of pear, crisp melon, freshly baked bread, waxy citrus rind and iodine, Ferret's 2020 Pouilly-Fuissé Tête de Cru Les Perrières is medium to full-bodied, textural but chiseled, with a racy spine of acidity and a taut, mineral profile. As ever, it will demand a bit of patience.

Decanter 92: This wine is from east-facing vines behind Mme. Ferret’s house, and is thus called by the domaine ‘Clos de Jeanne’ although it is in premier cru Les Perrières. It delivers a substantial wine; here the cask ferment (20% new) is more apparent, yet it holds this will and shows approachably toasty ripe apple aromas. There is abundant extract here but the wine remains impressively fresh and lingers seductively on the finish.

2022

Burghound 91-93: Moderately generous wood stops short of fighting with the ripe aromas of citrus confit, spiced pear and a suggestion of exotic fruit in the form of white peach. There is again a lovely sense of minerality to the beautifully delineated medium-bodied flavors that conclude in a clean, dry and youthfully austere finish. This balanced and refined effort is already nicely complex and a wine that should be approachable young but have no problem aging well over the mid-term.

Vinous 92: The 2022 Pouilly-Fuissé Les Perrières 1er Cru contains less clay and more limestone than the Clos de Jeanne that lies just a few meters below. This bouquet shows beautiful yellow fruit, walnut and light vanilla scents. It's well-defined and has more complexity than the Clos des Prouges. The palate is taut and fresh, quite lively and tensile. There's a pleasing steeliness here with a twist of sour lemon on the finish. Plenty of energy is bound up in this wine. Superb.
