Roche de Bellene

Bringing with him a wealth of international winemaking experience to the table, Nicolas Potel honed his craft at various New-World wineries before returning to France to take the reins of the family business. He entered the négociant realm and established Maison Roche de Bellene in 2005, attaching it to his own domaine - Domaine de Bellene, which was named after the ancient name of Beaune.
At Roche de Bellene, the focus is on the individual terroirs from Vieilles Vignes that have been farmed responsibly for over 40 years. Nicolas works closely with growers who are either BIO certified or practicing sustainable viticulture according to the principles of lutte raisonée, aligning on their decisions about vineyard practices, crop reduction, harvest dates, and fermentation regimens to ensure that the wines reflect the unique qualities of the terroir. Focusing on quality over quantity, production for some years have been almost miniscule.
