Robert Weil Kiedrich Grafenberg Riesling Auslese 375ml
Robert Weil Kiedrich Grafenberg Riesling Auslese 375ml
Winemaker notes
Refined and delicious Riesling Auslese; beguiling fruit notes in the nose are followed by an artful balance between natural sweetness and tart acidity; the kind of wine that shaped the Rheingau’s legend for the past two centuries, and a wine glad to age for many years to come.
2021
Wine Advocate 96: The 2021 Kiedrich Gräfenberg Riesling Auslese is pure, refined and piquant on the clear and spicy nose. Lush and round on the palate yet with enormous salinity and tension, this is a rich yet piquant, vital and tensioned Auslese with concentrated yet vivacious fruit and spectacular salinity. 8.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted in July 2022.
James Suckling 96: Tangerine dream nose! Stunning succulence and vitality on the very concentrated palate. The tension between the richness and electric acidity is something to be experienced. Either you’re tough enough to handle this, or not. Razor-sharp finish in spite of the high natural grape sweetness. Limited production. Enormous aging potential! Drink or hold.
2022
Wine Advocate 95: The 2022 Kiedrich Gräfenberg Riesling Auslese is clear, precise and fresh but also concentrated and dense, with overripe but nevertheless spicy and saline notes. Generous, rich and savory/saline on the palate, this is a mouth-filling, dense and chewy Auslese with concentrated fruit and rather smooth acidity. There is less drama here than in the Turmberg Auslese but more hedonism for those who prefer smoother acidity. 8% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2023.
James Suckling 98: A mighty riesling Auslese, but with the purity and precision that marks out the greatest wines of this category in the 2022 vintage. Great exotic fruit coulis character with stacks of passion fruit, but also King Alphonso mango. The super-long finish is as compact as it is vibrant. So much mineral freshness. Limited production. Drink or hold.
