Pio Cesare Sauvignon Blanc Langhe
Pio Cesare Sauvignon Blanc Langhe
2022
Wine Advocate 87: Here is a new submission from Pio Cesare, a winery with a long tradition of making red wines and the ambition to add more whites to the portfolio. This makes perfect sense given the great variability of northern Italian foods. An estate as important as this would want to have something to pair with fish, lighter salads and the foods many of us choose today. The 2022 Langhe Sauvignon Blanc opens to an almost transparent appearance with aromas of lemon drop, green tomato leaf, white stone and quince.
James Suckling 93: A very fresh and bright white with peaches, honeysuckle, and hints of nougat. Medium body. Bright acidity and a clean finish. Crisp. From Il Bricco vineyard in Barbaresco and Bossania vineyard, just outside the region. 10% fermented and aged in barrels. Energetic. Drink now.
Falstaff 91: Transparent straw yellow with silver highlights. Aromatic nose, gooseberry, papaya and elderflower, somewhat reminiscent of herbal candy. The palate is juicy and tangy, discreetly creamy with a vibrant acidity, animating and mouthwatering finish.
