E. Guigal Cotes du Rhone Blanc
E. Guigal Cotes du Rhone Blanc
A white wine which will seduce thanks to the blend of grape varieties and its qualities which are as numerous as its famous red cousin’s! Connoisseurs will recognise the dominant presence of Viognier.
Winemaker notes
Eye : Yellow gold, clear and brilliant.
Nose : Freshness marked by the distinctive aromas of Viognier ;white flowers, apricot, acacia and white peach.
Palate : Fruity with plenty of richness and body.
Overall : A well-rounded wine with elegance, strength and balance.
2021
Wine Enthusiast 91: A predominance of Viognier lends a plump, peachy flair and silken mouthfeel to this full-bodied, fleshy white blend. Matured entirely in stainless steel, its grapefruit, apricot and white-peach flavors are pure but edged by a smoky, mineral backdrop that adds drama and complexity.
Wine Spectator 89: Floral and bright, with ripe cantaloupe, honeysuckle and nectarine flavors that are succulent and generous. Reveals chamomile and salted almond notes that add intrigue on the tasty finish. Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne, Clairette, Bourboulenc and Grenache Blanc.
2022
Jeb Dunnuck 90: Mostly Viognier (55%) but with other permitted white varieties, the 2022 Côtes Du Rhône Blanc has a medium-bodied, vibrant, pure style to go with lovely peach and tangerine-like aromas and flavors. Drink this outstanding, classy white over the coming 2-3 years. I never cease to be amazed at the quality of the Côtes du Rhône white from this team, especially given the quantities produced.
2023
James Suckling 90: An aromatic white Cotes-du-Rhone with lots of floral aromas, including pink roses. Ripe and medium- to full-bodied. Long, creamy finish with a touch of fine tannins balancing this neatly. A cuvee based on viognier with small amounts of grenache blanc and roussanne. Drink from release.
