Domaine Anderson Pinot Noir Walraven
Domaine Anderson Pinot Noir Walraven
Winemaker notes
Color is a beautiful dark translucent garnet red. Bramble, blackberry and rose petal aromas are complemented with flavors of black cherry and currant. A firm structure with graceful tannins provides the frame for this well-built wine. Umami and salt hints balance the fresh tartness feel of the wine, lingering long on the palate.
2017
Wine Advocate 91: The pale ruby colored 2017 Pinot Noir offers scents of tar, blackberries and smoked cranberries with earthy undertones and a touch of dried orange peel. The palate is light-bodied with spice and earth-laced flavors, fresh, soft and nuanced with a long finish. 3,040 cases produced.
Vinous 92: The 2017 Pinot Noir Walraven Vineyard is bright and punchy right out of the gate. Sweet floral notes, hard candy and ripe red berry fruit race out of the glass. Medium in body and nicely lifted, the 2017 is overt in its flavor profile, but also restrained, especially structurally, where it remains very much light on its feet. The 2017 spent 16 months in barrel, 11% new.
Wine Enthusiast 94: Delicious, ripe fruit flavors form the core of this generous but well-balanced wine that almost bursts with raspberry, black cherry and mint character. It's technically light bodied, but very mouthfilling. Best to drink through 2025.
