Winemaker notes
Bouquet of vineyard peach and passion fruit, underpinned by a fine juiciness and spice. Here the minerality is evident in the form of smashed flints. Animating fruit in a playful aftertaste.

James Suckling 96: Pull the curtains, turn out the light and let yourself sink into this world of riesling mineral wonder! Still very tightly-wound, this is only just beginning to spread its wings. Great drive at the incredibly focused finish.
Decanter 94: Carolin Diel always goes for the quiet tones in her Rieslings, and that is why the fine nuances in the Burgberg are so touching. Spontaneous fermentation followed by ageing in large wooden barrels, this is a serious wine with a focus on spices, with dominant nutmeg and cardamom notes over ripe fruits of apple, peach and a hint of apple skin. Here, maturity and freshness come together. Expressive and with an impressive length.
Wine Enthusiast 93: This brings an elevated experience, with great elegance, but also intense acidity which matches the expressive notes of apple, lemon oil and slivered almond. There is an edgy buttermilk note that emerges midpalate, adding character, but it is swiftly scooped by enticing spice and mineral features that mark the mouthwatering finish.
