Made from equal proportions of grapes from the Château’s three plots, the blend is dominated by Grenache (2/3) and Syrah (1/4). Cinsault, Muscardin, Counoise and Mourvèdre bring complexity to the wine. Aged primarily in stainless steel tank, it is elegant and punchy with seductive aromas of fresh fruits. The red Saintes Pierres de Nalys is a wonderful expression of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation with round and generous tannins and lovely frame. Enjoyed young, it is full of richness and freshness.
Winemaker notes
Eye : Deep, dark and profound red.
Nose : Elegant nose, open with notes of red fruits.
Palate : Ample and supple tannins while keeping a lovely frame.
Overall : A rich wine, balanced between richness and freshness.
2019
Wine Advocate 92: Pretty raspberry and strawberry shadings appear on the nose of the 2019 Chateauneuf du Pape Saintes Pierres, joined by pie cherries and slightly herbal notions of garrigue. It's medium to full-bodied, with a silky texture and a firm, gently tannic finish.
James Suckling 91: Aromas of lilies, green apples and elderberries. Medium-bodied. Rather crisp. Fresh and bright with some nice driving acidity. Oyster shell and lemon peel. Restrained. 36% clairette, 29% bourbolenc, 25% grenache blanc, 7% roussanne, 3% picardan.
Vinous 93: Brilliant violet. Intensely perfumed black raspberry and cherry aromas are complemented by suggestions of candied flowers and baking spices. Stains the palate with juicy, spice-laced red and blue fruit preserve flavors that are lifted and sharpened by a smoky mineral element. At once lively and concentrated, finishing very long and spicy, with supple tannins and lingering florality.
