Nittardi BEN
Nittardi BEN
BEN is short for the Italian forename Beniamino, which is often bestowed upon the youngest and most beloved son. And this is true of Nittardi’s BEN, a long-cherished dream of the family and, since 2012, the first Maremma white wine.
BEN is made from 100% Vermentino, a grape varietal indigenous to Tuscany and found along the entire Mediterranean coast. The ideal microclimate in Southern Maremma, not far from the Tyrrhenian coast, gives BEN its refreshing taste and subtle hint of saline minerality.
Winemaker notes
Straw yellow colour with brilliant green nuances. Delicately floral with peach, honey-melon and mandarin peal aromas. Good structure on the palate balanced by a pleasant citrus freshness and saline and salty notes that give a good length and verticality to the wine.
2021
James Suckling 92: Sliced pears, lemons and apples on the nose with some elderflower, too. It’s medium-bodied, creamy and fresh. Saline hints on a refreshing finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink now.
