Having been carefully preserved for many long years in the complete darkness of the Louis Roederer cellars, in perfect temperature and humidity conditions, these vintage champagnes are now reaching the peak of their maturity, the very apex of their potential. Each vintage that has been carefully selected by the cellar master is now ready to begin a new life, bringing champagne into the world of fine wine and broadening their drinking potential as these fresh and complex champagnes pair wonderfully well with food!
Winemaker notes
Deep golden hue. Incredibly fine and delicate bubbles. The bouquet discloses ripe red fruit and concentrated notes of candied citrus. After aeration, the nose takes on complexity to reveal dried fruit, roasted hazelnut and iodised notes of sea shells mixed with limestone. Warmer notes of spice and Havana cigar then come to the fore before giving way to caramelised aromas of baked apple. The creamy, soft palate is structured by delicate bubbles. The wine has an almost powdery sensation with notes of cocoa bean and a beautifully textured body. It is lively, juicy and concentrated with a velvety mouthfeel and a fruity, spicy character. The finish is ripe and almost sunny yet tannic and energetic too, which only accentuates the sensation of freshness.
1990
Wine Advocate 92: From an earlier era, before Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon took Roederer's winemaking in a somewhat more reductive direction, the 1990 Brut Vintage is a medium to full-bodied, rich and pillowy wine evocative of apricots, dried fruits, honeycomb, spices, caramel and toasted nuts. It's a delicious mature wine, still animated by a pretty pinpoint mousse, that's cut from more old-fashioned cloth.
1995
Wine Advocate 92: The 1995 Brut Vintage is an understated beauty, offering up aromas of sweet orchard and stone fruit mingled with nuances of mandarin oil, iodine, buttery pastry and smoke. Medium-bodied, racy and precise, it's seamless and elegant, without the overt richness of 1999 or the power and tension of 1996, but it's a beautifully balanced mature Champagne that's at its peak today.

Wine Advocate 94: Roederer's 1996 Brut Vintage is especially compelling today, wafting from the glass with scents of crisp orchard fruit, dried white flowers, clear honey, citrus oil, buttery pastry, freshly baked bread and iodine. Full-bodied, ample and concentrated, with a deep core of ripe fruit, racy acids and impressive chalky structure, it concludes with a long, saline finish. This is one wine from this heralded vintage that lives up to all the year's early acclaim.
1999
Wine Advocate 93: The 1999 Brut Vintage dates from the first year Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon took the reins as Chef des Caves chez Roederer. At disgorgement, he made a point of opting for a lower-than-usual dosage for this lower-acid vintage, with a view to long aging, and that choice is resoundingly vindicated today. Bursting with aromas of golden orchard fruit, peach and mandarin mingled with buttery pastry, brioche and iodine, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and generous, with an enveloping, gourmand profile and a long, sapid finish. At its peak today, this complex and demonstrative mature Champagne is a delight to drink.
