Always ambassadors of the Montalcino tradition, aimed at reflecting the elegance of the pure Sangiovese, through long spontaneous fermentations, that in 2018 lasted 42 days, carried out only by our native yeasts, without the control of temperature. Then the wine is aged for 42 months in big 30/50 hl barrels in Slavonian oak. Not filtered. Two distinct vineyard plots owned by the company: Le Prata, facing south-west at an altitude above sea level of 507 meters and La Torre with a south-east exposure at 420 asl., which, after being fermented and aged individually, come to the bottle in a single solution.
2015
Wine Advocate 97: The Le Potazzine 2015 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is released a year after most other Riservas hit the market (most of this winery's peers are now selling the 2016 vintage). This pretty wine is open-knit and rich, showing nice textural support. It is redolent of dried cherry, blackberry, light spice, tar and smoke. This special selection of fruit shows elegant results in this hot and sunny vintage. Production is 3,200 bottles and some larger formats.
James Suckling 96: This is a late-release 2015 with extremely attractive blackberry, black-cherry and floral aromas, as well as hints of spices. Full-bodied with wonderfully integrated tannins that are polished yet powerful. Long, persistent finish, showing real purity of fruit. Try after 2023, but already impressive.
Wine Enthusiast 96: Enticing, earthy aromas of new leather, truffle and violet mingle with ripe woodland berries. Boldly structured but also showing a weightless elegance, the savory palate delivers ripe cranberry, cherry marinated in spirits, licorice and tobacco framed in taut, fine-grained tannins.
Decanter 92: Balsamic and ethereal, beeswax and incense. Lush and ripe with plenty of cherry liqueur, strawberry coulis followed by hints of clove and molasses. Smoky spicy aromas to finish.
