De Pez 375ml
De Pez 375ml
Château de Pez, west of the commune of Saint-Estèphe, rivals Calon Ségur as the most ancient of all the Bordeaux vineyards. Its 39 adjoining hectares enjoy ideal exposures on the hilltops around the Château itself. Thanks to continuous investment, Château de Pez has been carefully renovated since it was acquired by the House of Louis Roederer in 1995. Today this great Cru Bourgeois is restored to its former glory and retakes its rightful place in the limelight as one of the shining stars of Saint-Estèphe.
Winemaker notes
The precision accorded to every detail, right down to the meticulous selection of our 600 French oak barrels, has produced a typical Méoc wine which is fairly powerful, fruity, round, rich and smooth on the palate, making for a delicious wine with excellent ageing potential.
2020
Wine Advocate 91-93: Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2020 de Pez skips out of the glass with lively notes of Bing cherries, fresh blackberries and blackcurrant pastilles, with suggestions of pencil shavings, wild thyme and damp soil. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly styled and refreshing, delivering intense red and black berry layers with loads of herbal sparks and a grainy texture, finishing long and savory.
James Suckling 92: Ripe berries, plums, spice and cedar aromas follow through to a medium body, creamy tannins and a delicious finish. Some nice acidity here too. Thyme character to the fruit at the end. Try after 2024.
